The user with the assigning & publish shifts permission can assign, replace, and remove the shift from the attendance tracking pages as follows :

When there is no shift assigned, the user can assign a shift or a day off.

When there is already a shift assigned, the user can replace the shift with another shift .

When there is already a shift assigned, the user can remove it, or add a second shift or set it as a day off.

When there is a day off already assigned, the user can replace the day off with a shift or remove it.

The above options will be available only for the user who has scheduler view access ( assigning & publish shifts permission ) for his own, Team or All.

All the changes will be published automatically.

When the user assigns a new shift or replaces it with another shift, a list will show the shift presets and highlight the overlapped ones.

The days with confirmed attendance sheet, will not show the options to assign, replace, and remove shifts or days off.
