A permissions system must be powerful enough to protect your data, yet flexible enough to adapt to your evolving business needs. That's why we've launched a significant update to the Jisr platform, introducing a new level of control and precision in managing your teams.
This update focuses on two key areas: reorganizing how permissions are displayed for greater clarity, and introducing the concepts of "Groups" and "Exceptions" to give you granular control at the individual employee level.
Here are the most important changes in Jisr's new Roles & Permissions system:
1. Easier Access and Navigation
To ensure a smooth experience, we've reorganized where permissions live within the system. You can now easily access all Roles & Permissions settings directly from the main menu under the new "Access & Control" tab. This is your unified gateway for managing your teams and their access rights.

2. A Comprehensive Dashboard: A Single View of All Permissions
The Goal: Save you time and effort when searching for information.
What's New? We've added a new, comprehensive "Summary View" for all roles. From a single screen, you can now quickly see every default and custom role in your system. This overview helps you understand your organization's entire permission structure at a glance, enabling better and faster decisions about access management.
3. Start Quickly and Professionally: Create Roles Using Ready-Made Templates
The Goal: Eliminate tedious setup tasks so you can focus on your core work.
What's New? Creating a new role no longer means starting from a blank slate. You can now choose on of the existing roles in the system (default or custom) and use it as a template (e.g., HR Manager) to build on. You can, of course, review and adjust the defined permissions before saving, ensuring both speed and accuracy while minimizing human error.
4. Smart Presets: Saving Configuration Time
Each role comes with a set of recommended "Permission Presets." These presets represent best practices for each functional role and can be easily reviewed and modified before the role is activated. This means you no longer need in-depth expertise to create precise and effective roles.
5. Precise Data Access Control: Setting Permission Scope to Employee Groups
Previously, Jisr only supported limited access scopes for each permission (Own, Team, All). Now, admins can define the scope of any permission to include one or more of the employee groups that are pre-defined in the system. This way, you could for example grant an employee in the finance team access to payroll data of employees in the sales department, without having to grant him access to the data of all employees.
6. Dynamic Role Allocation: Assigning Roles to Dynamic Groups
Instead of assigning roles to a specific list of employees by name, regardless of their professional attributes, you can assign roles to dynamic groups of employees based on specific criteria, such as location, department, title.. and much more. Imagine you want to grant data access to all employees in the Riyadh branch only. With dynamic groups, you can easily define this in the roles settings, and the role will be automatically applied to any employee who joins the Riyadh branch afterwards.
7. Ultimate Flexibility: Employee-Level Permission Exceptions
Eliminating the complexity of creating new roles for simple, individual requirements.
What's changed? How often have you needed to grant an employee just one additional permission outside their existing role? With Permission Exceptions, you can now go to any employee's file and either grant a new permission or revoke an existing one, without affecting the original role or impacting other employees. This flexibility allows you to handle all individual cases seamlessly and maintains a simple and clean role structure.
8. Accomplishing tasks quickly: Bulk Operations
Saving time and effort on repetitive tasks.
What's changed? Manually adding or removing dozens of employees from a specific role used to be a cumbersome task. Now, for the first time, we support Bulk Operations. You can easily:
- Assign a role to a large group of employees at once.
- Delete a role from a group of employees in one step.
- Delete unused custom tools in bulk.
Note: The user can view the audit logs and see all the operations that took place in the permissions and security management system.
