Salary Bands are one of the core components of the Compensation Management module. They help organizations build a fair and structured compensation framework by defining minimum and maximum salary ranges for each job title, based on job families, levels, and available data within the Jisr system.
Why Are Salary Bands Important?
Salary Bands offer several features that simplify and streamline how HR teams manage pay structures across the organization, including:
- Creating salary bands using ready-made templates and flexible structures.
- Centralized storage for all compensation-related data.
- Automatically suggesting the appropriate band when assigning or updating an employee.
- Auto-assigning new employees to the relevant band, with manual confirmation if needed.
- Easy upload of compensation data during initial setup.
- Smart suggestions for bands based on existing system data such as tenure, education, and job title.
How to Use Salary Bands
Once Compensation Management is enabled, users with the proper access can navigate to:
Compensation Management → Salary Bands
Set up Salary Bands
Jisr offers four main ways to create salary bands:
1. Using Payroll Data
Jisr automatically reads existing payroll data and generates bands accordingly.
2. Uploading an Excel File
An Excel template is provided for download, including required fields such as job families, levels, and salary ranges.
Once uploaded, the data is reflected instantly in the system.
3. Using Templates
Jisr provides ready-made templates categorized by job levels and job families.
After filling out the template, the system prompts you to define the salary midpoint, minimum, and maximum for each level.
4. Manual Entry
If you choose manual setup, you’ll proceed to define job levels and structures in detail.
Manual Setup Steps
Step 1: Create Job Levels
Three options are available:
- Automatically from Jisr data
- Using templates
- Manually
In the manual method, you define job level groups, each containing multiple job titles across different seniority levels.
Example:
- Accountant
- Senior Accountant
- Accounting Manager
Step 2: Create Job Families
You can create job families using one of the following options:
- Automatically from Jisr data
- Using templates
- Manually
- Skip this step (Note: job levels setup is mandatory, but job families can be skipped)
If you choose manual creation, simply input the job family name and assign the relevant levels to it.
Step 3: Link Job Families to Levels
This step connects each job family with the appropriate level group.
Step 4: Define Salary Bands
Three ways are available:
- Automatically from payroll data
- Automatically from market benchmarks
- Manually
If using the manual method, define:
Midpoint Salary for each level
Maximum Salary as a % above the midpoint (e.g., 20% of SAR 8,000)
Minimum Salary as a % below the midpoint (e.g., 30% of SAR 8,000)
Step 5: Assign Employees
Jisr automatically assigns employees to the correct band based on their job information.
You can manually adjust an employee’s assignment or move them to a different band if needed.
After Completing Salary Band Setup
The system displays where each job level falls within the band (below, at, or above midpoint).
If any employee couldn’t be automatically assigned to a band, you can manually assign them using the Assign Employee button.
Note:
If a new employee is added after salary bands have been defined, you can assign them to the correct band manually at any time.
