How to calculate the daily accrual of annual leave balance for employees:
1- If the calendar year has 365 days:
To determine the daily accrual: Divide the employee's annual entitlement by the actual number of days in the Gregorian year (365).
Example 1: The employee’s annual entitlement = 21 days
=> 21 ÷ 365 = 0.0575342 per day
To find out the monthly accrual: The employee’s annual entitlement is divided by the number of months in the year (12)
=> 21 ÷ 12 = 1.75 per month
Example 2: The employee’s annual entitlement = 30 days
=> 30 ÷ 365 = 0.0821917 per day
To know the monthly entitlement
=> 30 ÷ 12 = 2.5 per month
2- If the calendar year is a leap year (it has 366 days)
To find out the daily accrual: The employee’s annual entitlement is divided by the number of days in the actual calendar year (366).
Example: The employee’s annual entitlement = 21 days
=> 21 ÷ 366 = 0.057377 per day
To find out the monthly entitlement: The employee’s annual entitlement is divided by the number of months in the year (12)
=> 21 ÷ 12 = 1.75 per month
Example: The employee’s annual entitlement = 30 days
=> 30 ÷ 366 = 0.081967 per day
To know the monthly entitlement
=> 30 ÷ 12 = 2.5 per month
