One of the biggest causes of job dissatisfaction — for managers and team members alike — is employee scheduling issues. In fact, this variable is consistently near the top of the list of reasons why employees quit their jobs in industries with heavy operations such as Food & Beverage, Retail, and Healthcare.

1- Things You Need To Know About This Update :
Define who of your employees follows a fixed schedule & who’s on frequently changing shifts.
Now you’ll be able to define whom of your teams are on frequently changing shifts and whom that follow fixed, rarely changed working hours.
You might have noticed that previously, all employees on Jisr had predefined shifts on their schedule, and that made it difficult for managers to keep track of their teams with frequently changing shifts, if their schedules are up to date or not.
➡️ Now when you assign employees on Jisr to a Fixed Hours schedule, Jisr will automatically repeat the defined weekly shifts for them on Scheduler. And employees who aren’t assigned to any Fixed Hours schedule will have empty schedules until shifts are assigned to them manually on Scheduler.

Clocking Windows will replace Buffer Time
Please pay extra attention here. This point is very important to understand.
If you came across shift settings before, you might have noticed something called “Buffer Time”. That used to define how long after the end of the shift Jisr should relate Attendance punches to that shift. The downside here is that when employees punch in an unexpected flow, so many things could go wrong as a consequence of that setting.
Example 1: Employee forgets to clock in, but clocks out normally at the end of the shift. Jisr considers that as a clock-in (Since it’s the first punch) and highlights the expected clock-out punch as missing.
Example 2: Employee clocks out after the defined Buffer Time. Jisr considers highlights the expected clock-out punch as missing, and processes the actual clock-out time as a clock-in for the next day’s shift, and when employee clocks in the next day, it’s processed as a clock-out, and so on.
Do you see how much trouble is caused by that?
Now let’s talk about how the new ‘Clocking Windows’ addresses this for you.
➡️ ‘Clocking Windows’ will allow you to set boundaries for when, throughout the day, you want Jisr to process Attendance punches as Clock-in or Clock out automatically, and when to keep them on hold and require human interception to correct punches either manually or through approval cycles.
Shift Rules will replace Shift Types
For those in high operation environments. If you tried setting up shift templates on Jisr before, you might have experienced difficulties in defining your actual needs, ending up with so many similar shifts in hand, making it harder to track, and harder to maintain.
Now you’ll be able to schedule 2 shifts on the same day, both flexible, and exempt assignee from clocking out, all at the same time.
➡️ A couple of small adjustments made a big difference:
-
Flexibility and exemption from clocking out are now part of shift rules. You don’t need to create a separate shift type for that.
-
Split Shift is no longer a shift type as well. Now you can combine any 2 shifts immediately on Scheduler.

‘Punch Correction’ will replace ‘Missing Punch’ requests
The term ‘Missing Punch’ could be confusing sometimes, in many cases punches are not really “missing” but mostly processed inaccurately. So, there are a few simple enhancements here:
-
We rephrased the request type ‘Missing Punch’ to ‘Punch Correction’. So if you still have pending ‘Missing Punch’ requests prior to this update, you’ll find them with the new name ‘Punch Correction’.
-
Employees now will be able to request a ‘Punch Correction’ for both IN & OUT punches at the same time in one request.
-
Employees can also request a ‘Punch Correction’ for an already recorded attendance.
